It seems we all want to go whale watching, and unlike doing this in Alaska, you don't need to dress like the Michelin Tire man to enjoy yourself.
Unlike watching them from shore, you will be able to see them a few hundred feet away, and some whales are so curious, they approach the boat! Hydrophones will also allow you to listen to the males 'sing' to one another.
In March, whale siteings are gauranteed, since the calm warm waters encourage matings and the mothers seem to prefer raising their calves in these waters around Maui before making the VERY long journey back to Alaska.
Please let us know if you would like to join us, and if you would prefer a morning or afternoon excursion. Trips out run $20 for a morning 2 hour excursion and $40 for a sunset cruise. Bring your glasses, sunscreen, and a camera. This is an awe inspiring experience!

What better to place to see the stars, but in the middle of the pacific ocean with no lights to disturb you. The worlds largest telescope is even set up out here because of the spectacular view!
More than 1,000 years ago, voyaging Polynesians were guided to the Hawaiian Islands with the help of the stars. Now you can view those stars and much more using Hawaii's only recreational telescope known as "Great White". This 16-inch reflector telescope is more than nine stories up, on a remote site of the hotel rooftop. Our Director of Astronomy uses a computer to select an agenda, and locate and identify 1,000 objects in the sky including stars, planet, galaxies and nebulae. Participants first learn to interpret the sky with the unaided eye, then giant astronomy binoculars before they use "Great White".
Tour of the Stars
Come share a cosmic experience at Tour of the Stars. Seating is limited to ten "gazers" to allow optimum viewing. Private shows are available.
Price: $20 per person/Hyatt Guest, $10 per child/Hyatt Guest
Shows are scheduled at 8:00pm, 9:00pm and 10:0pm on the hotel rooftop.
Romance Tour of the Stars
For a romantic end to a perfect day in paradise, share champagne and chocolate covered strawberries during the "couples only" Tour of the Stars
Price: $25 per person/Hyatt Adult Guest
Shows are scheduled at 11:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Sheraton Maui rests atop the famed black rock, Puu Kekaa, site of many Hawaiian legends.
As the sun begins its slow dive into the ocean, torch lighting signals the nightly ritual of Lele Kawa (cliff diving). Legend tells us the last chief of Maui, Kahekili (Thunderer), proved his spiritual strength by leaping from sacred Pu’u Keka’a to the Pacific.
With sunset painting the sky, a young cliff diver honors his heritage each evening by re-tracing footsteps in the sand on Kaanapali Beach. A chant of old Hawai'i begins the progression of our warrior; the echo of the conch shell announces his arrival. He leaves a trail of glowing torches surrounding the lagoon as he makes his way to Black Rock. Upon reaching the summit, he offers his torch to the ocean below, casts his flower lei into the sea; and finally takes the breathtaking dive from Black Rock into the rolling surf below.
Enjoy this nightly tradition at the poolside Lagoon Bar.

An enthralling contemporary interpreter of female ha’i (falsetto) singing, Amy Gilliom has been widely praised for breathing new life into an old Hawaiian tradition. She brings the art forward from a strong foundation, having been taught to sing and to respect the art form by the legendary Aunty Genoa Keawe.
